Quincy Jones, one of music's greatest and most influential legends, arrangers, composers, and music producers, died yesterday at the age of 91. He worked with many other musical icons such as Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and countless others, changing the shape of music over decades in everything from Jazz and Rap to Pop and R&B. A musical giant, his indelible contributions earned him 28 Grammy Award wins (more than anyone else to date except singer Beyoncé and conductor Georg Solti). Jones also left his mark on movies, composing for around 70 films and TV shows, including a classic film already on this blog, "In the Heat of the Night", where you can read more about the life and career of Quincy Jones. Just click on the film title to open the post. Mr. Jones will certainly be missed.
